"The Hidden Feelings of Motherhood"

Recently I read this amazing book from Kathleen Kendall Tackett, and I wanted to let you know how much it rocked. The title drew me in, and the content got me hooked.

Kendall-Tackett discusses how the changing face of motherhood in the 21st century has presented moms with new challenges in addition to bearing old burdens (dinner, laundry, etc). She discusses how stress and additional work burdens literally create burnout, a condition accepted for many other professions....and moms get it too.

The author really does a nice job of laying out that it's OK to have these "hidden feelings" and that it's time we start talking about it-because let's face it, ladies, sometimes this job sucks. She also delicately addresses what it's like for survivors of sexual abuse to experience depression during early motherhood, and how depression manifests in moms who tragically loose their children.

Overall, I think it's a nice read for both professionals and lay-moms alike! Cheers-grab a kleenex, your journal, and a phone to call your friends while you read "The Hidden Feelings of Motherhood".
