Lately, I've been pretty pissed off.
A lot of anger is floating around, making a mess of things. Often I work with clients around how to manage anger appropriately, and what to do with all of those feelings-just how do you release them?
One option that always comes up is breaking stuff. This always presents some issues:
- Maybe you don't have your own stuff to break. Or maybe it's more fun to break someone else's stuff.
- Could be that it's not so safe to break stuff where you live. I live in an apartment-not so great for throwing objects without other objects getting injured.
- Noise level. Perhaps whilst breaking things, you like to additionally release by screaming loudly. This could just be me.
Relax, my dear ones. There is a place for those of us only satisfied by hurling bits of crockery across a room. It's called "Sarah's Smash Shack", in San Diego, CA. I know it's a long ways away from Boston, but it just might be worth it for all they have to offer.
Not only does the Shack provide the room to throw stuff, they can also sell you the stuff to throw. You can come alone or with your friends. You can bring your own music (perhaps some 'Rage Against the Machine").
And, they now have a mobile set up, where the smashing can come to you.
This brilliant safe release of anger must make it's way to the East.....
But in the meantime, we can get ready by practicing in our basements with protective goggles. Kudos to Sarah and Ed, for making a therapeutic tool accessible to the masses!
